Do you have an un-maintained property next door or on your street, and you believe that the property has been abandoned/or is in foreclosure:

You do not have to just sit and suffer while weeds grow waist high while an abandoned/foreclosed property deteriorates ruining the appearance of your neighborhood and lowering everybody’s property values.  The City of Palm Bay enacted Ordinance No. 2008-61 on November 20, 2008 which requires the financial institution holding the mortgage on the abandoned/foreclosed property to register their property with the city, pay a registration fee, and designate a local individual or property management company to maintain and secure the property.

In short, the bank or financial institution holding the mortgage on the abandoned/foreclosed property is required to perform basic maintenance on the property which includes ensuring that the weed/grass height does not exceed 12 inches in height.

If you know of an abandoned/foreclosed home next to you or on your street which is not being maintained, you should contact:

Code Enforcement Officer Sabrina Perkins

Phone Number: (321) 952-3430

Email:  perkis@palmbayflorida.org.

(1)   Report the address of the foreclosed house which is not being maintained.

(2)   Ask whether or not the property is registered under the city’s foreclosure program.

(3)    Ask when the required maintenance program funded by the financial institution holding the mortgage will begin.

For full details on the City of Palm Bay’s foreclosure registration/maintenance program please visit the city’s web page on the subject at:

REMEMBER. THE SOONER THE CITY KNOWS ABOUT THE FORECLOSED PROPERTY, THE SOONER REQUIRED MAINTENANCE UNDER ORDINANCE 2008-61 CAN BEGIN.
